A Short Bio ________________________________________________Hello! My name is Mayank Choudhary. I was born and brought up in the South-Indian city of Chennai where I attended Bhavan's Rajaji Vidhyashram (Class X, 2008), and Maharishi Vidya Mandir (Class XII, 2010).
I acquired an interest in engineering and biology early on, particularly after attending a National Junior Science Olympiad Bootcamp in high school. Currently, I am a senior at the Indian Institute of Technology, Madras studying in the Department of Biotechnology, majoring in Biotechnology and minoring in Economics. (Yes, I quite like the mix) My principal interests are in solving real-life problems related to Health and Medicine, and developing technologies that can reach out to the masses. Gene expression regulation, Molecular basis of diseases, Systems biology and Networks medicine are some of my primary and current interests. To know more, check out my CV or the research projects I have done. I have a strong penchant for research on the interface of engineering, biology, and medicine, and hope to create an impact on human health. While not attending classes or working on my undergraduate thesis, you might find me discussing crazy synthetic biology ideas with the iGEM team, or enjoying a game of tennis, or on the basketball courts. I enjoy solving puzzles, word games and all things knowledge, and give my best shot at as many quizzes as I can attend. Having Bungee-d, SCUBA dived, and been on numerous treks, I am quite the adventure sports enthusiast ever-ready for a challenge! On a lighter note (pun intended), I am a big fan of Ludovico Einaudi's minimalistic piano pieces. (And often relax to it) While not doing any of the above, you will find me pulling pranks on unsuspecting mates or involved in intellectually outweighing philosophical musings (questioning-the-very-existence-of-life kind) with my friends in our hostel wing. |
